He will be gone two Sundays, which is very unusual for him. Because of this we will have opportunities to hear two great speakers.

Pastor David and Monica

On Sunday, February 28th, Pastor David Ssebuufu, pastor of Oasis of Faith church in Uganda, will be preaching. Here is part of Pastor David's testimony:

I accepted the Lord Jesus in 1980 after the rule of Idi Amin and death of my mother in August of the same year. Because of the political climate in Uganda from 1980 to 1985 my father was put in jail and by the time he came out he was very sick and died 1984.

I was then called to Jinja to help my friend who had started a church. I taught the word and prayer which was my food when I was working for the pastor. I did that for 8 years. The Lord stirred my heart to begin the church, which was so timely. We started with 18 Christians and some were not even strong in the Lord but we stood together, preached house to house, on the streets we moved and here we are with over 1,000 members from 1996.

Joe Barber

On Sunday, March 7th, Joe Barber will be speaking. Many of you know Joe but you probably don't know that even though his younger life was one of easy successes it soon turned to tragic difficulties.

Joe and his wife Tammi worked with the teens at COTR for years but the time came for them to turn their attentions to beginning their own family. Their son Sam was born and life took on a whole new focus.

Joe has a powerful testimony that will challenge your soul and warm your spirit.

Update on Haiti...

Update 2/13/2010

Latest NEWS - Dave Stone, Area Missionary to the Caribbean

I have been to Haiti several times over the years. As we drove into Port-au-Prince last week the first thing I saw was how much it seemed to be “life as usual.” The traffic was congested; the sidewalks were filled with people; street vendors were selling fruits and vegetables; it appeared as if nothing had changed. Some buildings were damaged some had collapsed, but nothing like what we had seen on the news. It wasn’t until we got deeper into the city that things began to change.

As we drew closer to the area of impact, tent cities began to fill every park and open space. The traffic became more congested, and collapsed buildings became more frequent. There was a visible presence of troops from the UN and the US, along with the Haitian police. Most of the people were very orderly and respectful. Only once did we see any type of disorder. Even when we walked into the tent cities to visit church members, no one seemed to mind that we were there. In fact, most appreciated the fact that outsiders had come to help.

Church on The Rock...

is all about sharing the life of Jesus Christ with everyone we can.

We have a special heart for helping missionaries and affecting nations, especially in Mongolia.
