Day One & Two: Seattle to Tel Aviv
July 18, 2007 Sandy and I began the day at the Doubletree at SeaTac at 3:45 AM. I caught the shuttle to the airport and Sandy went back to sleep.
My Alaska Airlines flight left at 6:00 AM for LAX. I arrived at LAX and was told to go to Terminal Six to catch my next flight. They didn't tell me it was about a mile away. I checked in to my Continental flight to Newark with no hitches and flew to Newark in 5 1/2 hours.
Made connections in Newark and after a piece of Sbarro's pizza (to live for) off to Tel Aviv. The ten hour flight was uneventful except that my TV monitor didn't work and neither did the radio (it was a 777). Let's get Jeff and Don on this.
Arriving in Tel Aviv was interesting because I've never done the "tour" thing before and I had to click into a different psychological gear. We were herded to baggage claim and then herded to our bus. Once at the hotel we were herded to get our room keys and after that we were on our own. Everyone was exceptionally nice.
I got settled in my room, met my roommate (nice guy) and headed for dinner. Marvelous. I recognized everything and it tasted exactly as expected: wonderful, especially the Perch from the Nile River. (Jealousy is allowed at this point.)
After dinner a quick shower and now I'm typing this. Check out the view from our room by clicking here.
Tomorrow we're up at 6:00 AM and off to Tiberias and touring at 7:30 AM. I hope to update later tomorrow evening.
Thank you for all your prayers.
Pastor Chris
